CCHS GRADS HEAD OFF TO COLLEGE, JOBS… WHAT ABOUT THE ARMED FORCES?

Amid the hubbub and excitement, much was made during Cumberland County High School Class of 2019 graduation about the majority of the 204 students who received honors, awards and scholarships. And rightfully so.

But while it’s easy to focus on those heading off to college, some family members in the audience noticed at last night’s commencement exercises, four students received no official recognition for their chosen path.

One parent told 1057 News, “The four that have enlisted to serve in the armed forces and protect our freedoms were not acknowledged at all.”

Those four are Jesse Willenburg and Micheal Meillarec, who joined the U.S. Marines, and Devon Covey and John Quinn, who enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

1057 News congratulates all members of the Class of 2019 across the listening area and wishes you much success in  your chosen paths.
