KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSES TAX RATE FOR NEW FY BUDGET

KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL DISCUSSES TAX RATE FOR NEW FY BUDGET

Kingston City Officials continued to address the idea of setting the property tax rate for the new fiscal year this past week. In a work session held earlier in the week, the group decided to keep 7 cents of a proposed 17 cent tax rate increase on the table for now. Vice mayor Tara Stockton proposed the amount, which would be earmarked for paving city streets in the upcoming months. The proposition passed on a 4-2 vote. Another 8 cent increase was voted down after it had been proposed to fund improvements within the Parks and Recreation Dept. The council plans to meet again in August to consider possible further changes in the tax rate which would be followed by the regular monthly meeting and public hearing.
