SMITH GIVEN PRISON SENTENCE IN FENTRESS COUNTY MURDER CASE

A judge handed down a 10 year prison sentence in a Fentress County murder and arson case. Court officials say 48-year-old Jonathan Donovan Smith of Morgan County stood accused of the death of Melissa Durham. Her body was found in a home destroyed by fire on Maynard Lane in southern Fentress County in December 2017. Smith was indicted by a grand jury for second-degree murder and aggravated arson in connection with the incident. Smith entered a no contest plea, meaning Smith agreed to the charges without admitting guilt.
