A driver escaped injury in a single vehicle accident on I-40 in eastern Putnam County late yesterday. Trooper James Owens says a 2015 Buick Lacrosse operated by 67-year-old Mirtha Kopec of Monterey was traveling east near the 294 mile marker when she lost control, left the road and struck multiple trees. Kopec was restrained at the time of impact. Traffic was backed up for a couple of hours as a result of the crash.
