PROPOSED TENNESSEE LAW WOULD REQUIRE THOSE GUILTY OF VEHICULAR HOMICIDE TO SERVE 100%

Tennessee State Representative William Lamberth is sponsoring House Bill 606 which calls for a person guilty of vehicular homicide as a result of their intoxication to serve 100 percent of the sentence. It would exclude time spent already in custody or for good behavior while incarcerated.
Vehicular homicide by intoxication is a Class B felony in the state. A person convicted of this crime is punished by imprisonment from 8 years to 30 years and can be fined up to $25,000. Additionally, a person convicted will be prohibited from driving a vehicle in Tennessee for at least 3 years up to a maximum of 10 years.
Lawmakers will consider and possibly vote on this matter soon.
