A child died Sunday in McNairy County after she fell through the ice on a pond. The 6-year-old girl was playing in the snow with other children when the ice gave way and she ended up in the water. The others were not hurt. Her death comes a week after a 10-year-old boy in Shelby County died while trying to save his sister who had fallen through the ice at a pond near their home. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency says twelve people passed away statewide because of last week’s winter storm. Four occurred in Shelby County, two in Sumner County and one each in Dickson, Maury, Overton, Williamson, Lawrence, and McNairy.
