TYPICAL SUMMER WEATHER

No changes in our forecast with partly cloudy, very warm and humid through the weekend and a few afternoon and evening thundershowers possible. Afternoon high temperatures will be around 85 to 90 and dropping to the mid-to-upper 60s at night. Ida is forming in the Caribbean moving to the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days and will grow into a hurricane we expect and probably make landfall around Louisiana around Sunday or Monday. We could get some rain off of it by early to mid next week and it will be a little cooler with highs upper 70s to low 80s. Ida is expected to grow into a dangerous hurricane as it approaches Louisiana very close to a category 3 storm with wind 110 to 115 miles per hour. The official word came today that the catastrophic rainfall that hit Humphreys County August 21st set an all-time record for daily rainfall in Tennessee as 17 inches fell in 24 hours in McEwen.
