Shepherdsville, Ky.- Dave Billings, a Bullitt County Coroner, stated that results from the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab confirmed that the body that was found six months ago, is Serenity McKinney.

Serenity McKinney, 4 years old, was reported missing January 31 after extended family members told officials they hadn’t see the girl since Christmas 2020. The 4-year-old’s body was found on February 18th, 2022, in a wooded area near the 1300 block of Skyview Road in West Point, Ky.

Back on February 21, murder charges were filed for Serenity’s mother, 21-year-old Catherine McKinney, and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Dakota Hill. The couple was also charged with abuse of a corpse in relation to Serenity’s death.

McKinney and Hill were booked in the Shelby County Detention Center and are expected back in court in October.
