In the late hours of February 2, 2023, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputies came in contact with Joshua Daved George, who is homeless and living in the area and has an active arrest warrant out of Jackson County, around a closed business on Jackson Street. As Deputies attempted to arrest George he fled on foot. Deputy Richey caught up with George who began resisting and violently assaulting the deputy and ultimately fleeing for a second time. George has a lengthy criminal history including multiple charges of Battery on Law Enforcement, resisting and evading arrest, and has recently spent time in prison in Florida for these types of charges.

On February 5, 2023, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputies located Joshua Daved George who began fleeing on a bicycle but ultimately was arrested near Big R on Jefferson Ave.
