MAN CHARGED AFTER SHOOTING VICTIM AND STEALING CAR IN PUTNAM COUNTY

Cookeville, TN- On February 20, 2023, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call on Bars Mill Road in reference to a reported shooting. Breanna Nash called authorities after arriving at her sister’s house to feed the dogs when she spotted a male subject covered in the blood claiming that he needed help after suffering a gunshot wound. Ms. Nash quickly got back in her car and left the residence. Deputy Sergeant Brian Haworth arrived on the scene to take over the investigation and was informed that a 2002 red GMC Sierra had been stolen off of the property and a door on the residence had been kicked in. It was later determined that Skiler Blackwell was the individual who broke in and stole the vehicle. Blackwell was later spotted in the vehicle on N Washington and taken into custody.
21-year-old Skiler Blackwell was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary and Theft of Property. Blackwell has a bond of $7,500 and a court date set for March 22, 2023.
