John Young “Johnny” Scarlett

Mr. John Young “Johnny” Scarlett of Franklin, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at The Hospice House of Bowling Green in Bowling Green, Kentucky, having attained the age of 85 years, 10 months & 11 days. He was born in McEwen (Humphreys Co.) Tennessee on Wednesday, April 21, 1937, the son of John Sidney and Edna Elizabeth (Young) Scarlett. He attended the 31W Church of Christ and was retired from G.M. in Indianapolis, Indiana having worked in the Allison Transmission Division. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ruth Scarlett, brother, Jack Scarlett, sister, Wilma McCurken, and step-grandson, Caleb Capps.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Capps Scarlett of Franklin, Kentucky, whom he wed on Sunday, July 25, 2010, step-sons, Danny (& Margie) Capps of Edmonton, Kentucky, Kevin (& Katherine) Capps of Glasgow, Kentucky, Robert (& Kristina) Capps of Summershade, Kentucky, brother, Glen (& Dot) Scarlett of McEwen, Tennessee, grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Kali, Terrin, Ariana, Kaden, Braden, Cade, great-grandchildren, Sadie, Hendrix, Stella, nieces and nephews, Robert Scarlett, Ron Scarlett, Steve McClurken, Darrel Scarlett, Jackie Scarlett, along with many friends.

The Funeral Service was conducted on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville with Bro. Steve Monts officiating. Casket bearers were Robert Scarlett, Ron Scarlett, Steve McClurken, Darrell Capps, and Matthew Capps. The honorary casket bearer was David Brown. Burial was in the Government Cemetery of Kettle in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville was honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
