Officials say seven teams from 14 area agencies responded to help extricate him.
Four technical rope-lowering systems had to be set up to lower him down the steep incline.
Authorities say there were 49 people involved in the rescue. Another 14 helped support the technical teams.
The man rescued was taken to an area trauma center for treatment.
