Rhea County firefighters continue to battle the Three Mile Fire near Trotter Road and Possum Trot Road.

As of late this morning (Tuesday, November 14, 2023), the wildfire had grown to 200 acres and was 70 percent contained.

The fire started last Thursday. By early Friday morning, it was 40 acres in size in the area of Jonas Holloway Lane on top of Grandview Mountain. By Sunday night, the blaze grew to 120 acres and was nearly 100 percent contained.

However, the winds picked up yesterday and the blaze jumped the fire lines.
