STRONG WINDS ON THE WAY

A potent weather system will bring heavy rain and high winds to the area from Monday night through Tuesday night. Ahead of the system, the National Weather Service has issued warnings and advisories:

High Wind Warning: Blount County Mountains and Southeast Monroe County

Wind Advisory: Bledsoe County, Cumberland County, Fentress County, McMinn County, Meigs County, Morgan County, Northwest Monroe County, Pickett County and Rhea County

The High Wind Warning is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Tuesday. Southeast winds at 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 85 mph. Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected.

The Wind Advisory is in effect from 6 PM this evening to midnight CST Tuesday night. Southeast winds at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 to 45 mph expected Monday night, becoming southwest on Tuesday. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
