MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH RESULTS IN TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF I-40 WESTBOUND IN PUTNAM COUNTY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck resulted in westbound lanes on I-40 in Putnam County being temporarily closed yesterday.

Troopers say 34-year-old Cameron Clark was driving a Dodge pickup truck westbound near mile marker 275 with 30-year-old Juan Medina in the passenger seat when they rear-ended a tractor-trailer. The pickup truck became lodged under the rear of the trailer and Medina was injured as a result.

Right after the collision, another tractor-trailer attempted to swerve to avoid the two vehicles involved in the crash but was unsuccessful. It hit the other tractor-trailer, causing its cab to separate from the frame, and came to rest in the median.

Medina was airlifted to an area trauma center for treatment.

None of the drivers were injured in either crash.
