OAK RIDGE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO TWO OVERNIGHT FIRES

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2024) – Oak Ridge Fire Department (ORFD) firefighters responded to two structure fires overnight.
Oak Ridge dispatchers received a call at 12:42 a.m. Friday, for a fire at 109 Houston Avenue, and upon arrival, crews found a detached garage that was fully involved in the fire.
At around 4:29 a.m., a call for a structure fire at 129 Newport Drive came in. Firefighters got the fire under control and are remaining on scene this morning extinguishing hot spots.
No one was injured in either fire and all occupants made it out of the home on Newport Drive.
“ORFD crews showed great strength and stamina during the fires,” ORFD Fire Chief Travis Solomon said. “We would also like to thank Y-12 Fire Department and Oak Ridge National Lab Fire Department for providing mutual aid coverage for the city.”
Oak Ridge Police Department, Electric Department, and Codes Enforcement also assisted ORFD on the scene.
