Southwestern McMinn County in east Tennessee…
* Until 645 PM EDT.
* At 545 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Charleston,
or near Cleveland, moving southeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include…
Cleveland, Benton, Ducktown, Charleston, East Cleveland, Calhoun,
William L. Davenport Refuge, Big Frog Mountain, Parksville, and
Turtletown.
This includes Interstate 75 in Tennessee between mile markers 26 and
35.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
