NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A missing Middle Tennessee man was found dead in his vehicle by road crews Tuesday evening.

Metro Nashville Police say workers with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) were picking up trash along Interstate 40 West near Central Pike when they came across the scene.

Jeffrey Weir, 62, of Lebanon, had reportedly been driving west on I-40 when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed lanes of travel, hit a guardrail, and continued down an embankment.

Police say Weir had been reported missing by his family on Tuesday. They hadn’t seen him since Saturday.

Investigators say there were no signs of impairment at the scene.
