CHEVY AND GMC OWNERS CAN CLAIM UP TO $12,700 FROM SETTLEMENT

A class-action settlement has been reached in which owners of certain affected GM diesel trucks, which include Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra diesel pickups, will be compensated for defective fuel injection pumps with $35 million to be provided as payment. The settlement accordingly provides for payment to all eligible class members across the United States and Canada.
This overview of the proceedings arises out of a class action complaint against General Motors (GM) regarding the installation of defective Bosch CP4 fuel injection pumps in Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks manufactured from 2011 to 2016. Per this complaint, those pumps are particularly sensitive to US fuel quality and hence more vulnerable to premature failure, with the attendant high repair costs.
Owners of Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra truck models with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel V8 LML engine can come to the settlement. It has been alleged that pump failure in normal use of the vehicle has funded to the extent of ruining the whole of the fuel system, which incorrigibly means repair bills to the size of bucks.
Class action details
In support of the claims, the plaintiffs pointed to a slew of reports of defective pumps, costing owners much to repair. The plaintiffs claimed that GM failed to test the CP4 pumps on fuels available in North America. GM denies all allegations of liability but agreed to a settlement to end the litigation without wasting much time in court.
Amount of compensation
Amounts vary depending on the total extent of the damages inflicted and previous repairs made necessary by the defective pump. Compensation could be as low as $400 and as high as $12,700, depending on prior expenses incurred.
To determine that claimants are eligible: Plaintiff must have purchased a Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra between 2011 and 2016 fitted with Bosch CP4 fuel injection pump and 6.6L Duramax diesel engine.
Such defect does not only affect the reliability of the vehicle but also endangers the driver due to unexpected breakdowns in possibly dangerous situations. This settlement provides truck owners with monetary support and sensitivities about their long-standing concerns in matters of vehicle safety and performance. GM does not concede any wrongdoing but sees the settlement as a positive step toward resolving common complaints among customers. By this settlement GM avoids the costs and uncertainties of prolonged trial.
Process of claim for eligible owners
The owners of trucks who feel that they are eligible can file a claim online via the settlement administrator’s official website. The window to file a claim is limited, so owners should be quick to assert their rights for due compensation.
For those who have been through expensive repairs due to the fuel pump issue, this settlement is long overdue. There is finally some relief for Chevy and GMC truck owners, knowing that they are going to receive financial compensation for the hardships they faced.
