DUI ON LANTANA

Yesterday, Deputy Ethan Wilson responded to a vehicle accident with injury on Lantana Rd. Before arrival, the caller advised that the driver of the Dodge Dakota was intoxicated.
Upon arrival, Deputy Wilson made contact with the driver of the Dodge Dakota identified as Dusty Lewis. In his report, Wilson says he could smell an odor of an intoxicating substance coming from Mr. Lewis’ person. He also observed him to have red watery eyes and slurred speech.
Lewis claimed only to have had two beers but failed the field sobriety tests and was placed into custody for Driving Under the influence.
During the accident investigation, dispatch advised that Lewis’s driver’s license was revoked without an interlock device. The truck Lewis was driving did not have an interlock device so due to him not complying with the restrictions of his license, Lewis was found to be driving on revoked as well.
Lewis was transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center and a search warrant was granted for Lewis’s blood. Deputy Wilson told him that he would be sending the blood off for testing and that if he came back under a .08 then he possibly wouldn’t get the DUI charge, but Lewis said his blood would definitely be higher than a .08.
Lewis would be served warrants for Driving Under the Influence and Driving on a Revoked license.
