BBBTV12 – The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has officially handed over the investigation of an incident that resulted in the accidental death of a Knoxville man.

The tragic event occurred on the morning of December 11 at the Chestnut Ridge Landfill, located at 140 Fleenor Mill Road in Heiskell. At approximately 8:55 a.m., landfill employees discovered the body of a white male and promptly notified the Anderson County E-911 Center. Deputies, along with Sheriff Russell Barker and detectives, responded to the scene to begin an investigation.

The deceased was identified as 47-year-old Mark Denton of Knoxville. His body was transported to the Knox County Forensic Center for examination. Preliminary findings suggest that the death was accidental and occurred within the city of Knoxville.

As of Thursday, December 19, 2024, the case has been transferred to the Knoxville Police Department for further investigation.
