KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS WATER PLANT EXPANSION

The Kingston City council members who also sit as water board members met on Tuesday evening and discussed with representative and project director Arron Crenshaw of Ardurra Company’s plans to expand their water plant.
The discussion lasted about 25 minutes as the city wants to prepare for future development by expanding its water plant. The water board knows that the city is sitting in a good state, receiving water from the Tennessee River, and the supply is unlimited.
The means to pay for such an expansion will be discussed in a future work session. The expansion could cost an estimated 15 million dollars, which would entail taking out loans for renovations and expansions.
Further discussions will be coming in the future. Most council Representatives who sit on the water board, Mayor Tim Neal, and water dept manager Kevin Hamilton are all in favor of the expansion should it prove cost effective and not put too much burden on the water rate payers.
