Barbara Ann Wright, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, won her long and courageous battle with dementia on January 18, 2025. She is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the love of her life, Don Wright.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Don Wright; her father, Charlie Langley; her mother, Virginia (Vance) Langley; and her brother, Richard Langley.

Barbara was born August 25, 1941, and it’s a graduate of Harriman High School. She dedicated 25 years of her life as a Corrections Officer at Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, earning the respect of her colleagues and making a meaningful impact in her community.

Barbara was skilled at many things and seemed to pick up new skills with ease. However, the skill that will be remembered most is her cooking. It was truly a gift, one that brought joy and comfort to countless people over the years. Her meals were more than just food—they were acts of love that brought people together and created cherished memories.

Barbara’s legacy is one of unwavering strength, kindness, and devotion. Her family and friends will always remember her warm smile, comforting meals, and her love for others.

She leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever treasure her memory. Barbara is survived by her children: Becky Richardson (Donnie) of Chattanooga, Rusty Kelly (Gina) of Coal hill, Louie Hicks (Deann) of Midtown, Nikki Hicks of Decatur, Suzie Johnson (Doug) of Harriman, Sandy Sheldon (Doug) of Coal hill, Donny Wright (Misty) of Coal hill, Pete Wright (Melinda) of Wartburg, and Lisa Eastman (John) of Clinton. She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 nephew and 2 nieces.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 12-1:00 pm at Jackson Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.  Funeral service will begin at 1:00 with the Rev. Jimmy Settles officiating.  Interment to follow in Coal Hill Church Cemetery
