TWO WRECKS ON I-40 NEAR KINGSTON ON SUNDAY

Interstate 40 eastbound at the 355 Glanville Road exit was down to one lane for much of Sunday afternoon due to a tractor-trailer running off the roadway and overturning at the eastbound exit route. According to Kingston fire department officials, the driver was able to escape serious injury.
He actually walked up the hill to an awaiting ambulance and was transported to an area hospital. The exact cause of what happened is not known at this time, but cleanup crews took much of the night to retrieve the cargo, which was scattered after the trailer collapsed into the grassy area between the interstate and the offroad.
No hazardous materials were reported to be on the trailer. The THP is investigating and will have further details as soon as their report is released. The accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday as traffic started moving past the wreckage.
Around 4:45 p.m., a two-vehicle accident with one vehicle flipping on it side occurred around the 354 mile marker one person taken to the hospital in that crash as well. More on these accidents as the reports are released from the Highway Patrol.
