TENNESSEE CITY FIRE RESCUE RESPONDS TO CARS SWEPT IN RIVER FLOOD WATERS

From Tennessee City Fire Rescue on February 16th:
Approximately 4:49 AM this morning TCFR responded to I-40 Eastbound at the 165 mile marker at the 165 mile marker for a welfare check on a female trying to flag down the driver. While units responded to find that it was an MVA where a SUV had left the interstate plunging into the Piney River. Female was able to make it to the bank to get help while the second occupant was swept away in the flood water. Tennessee City Fire deployed all assets along with Mutual Aide received upon request by Dickson County EMA for a boat and additional swift water personnel. We are glad to state that within the 1st hour on scene the second occupant was located and found alive down stream from entry point. The individual was transported to a nearby hospital. Also; a mutual aide request were made to Coble Fire Department for a drone with FLIR, and TEMA to request Aviation Helicopter with thermal flir in which was canceled upon locating the individual.
Units on scene were: Rescue 528, 541, Heavy Rescue 524, Rescue 540 with Rescue Boat 1 and 2, DCEMA, DCEMS, DCSO, THP
