KINGSTON POLICE ARREST VEHICLE BURGLARS

On 02/27/2025, at approximately 1740 hours, officers with the Kingston Police Department responded to 232 Farmington Trail in reference to a report of a male and a female burglarizing a vehicle.

  The individuals were gone upon officers’ arrival. Officers discovered that the male and female had burglarized another vehicle at 228 Farmington Trail as well. A black jacket was taken from one of the vehicles.

  Officers began checking the area in an attempt to locate the male and female. A short time later, officers received a call of a suspicious male at 137 Shubert Street, just a short distance away from Farmington Trail.

  When officers arrived, a male was actively burglarizing a vehicle. The male refused officers commands, continued going through the vehicle and then attempted to walk away. Officers took the male into custody and identified him as Jeffery Mathieu, 45. Jeffery Mathieu had slurred speech, spoke in a rapid incoherent manner and had dilated pupils.

  Officers located a female walking a short distance away and detained her. The female was identified as Julie Muse, 51. Julie Muse was exhibiting the same impaired characteristics that Jeffery Mathieu was displaying.

  Upon reviewing video footage of the burglaries, Jeffery Mathieu and Julie Muse were positively identified as the subjects that committed the vehicle burglaries on Farmington Trail.

  Jeffery Mathieu and Julie Muse were transported to the Roane County Detention Facility.

  The offenders left a large amount of narcotics in one of the burglarized vehicles. This is still under investigation and charges are pending.

  Jeffery Mathieu was charged with three counts of auto burglary, resisting arrest and public intoxication. Julie Muse was charged with two counts of auto burglary and public intoxication.
