EMERGENCY AGENCIES PARTICIPATE IN TORNADO DISASTER DRILL AT ROANE COUNTY PARK

BBBTV12 — Emergency crews from across the region gathered at Roane County Park in Harriman this morning for a large-scale disaster drill simulating the aftermath of a tornado strike.

Several members of the Oak Ridge Fire Department, along with ambulances from Anderson County EMS, took part in the emergency exercise, which was organized by the Roane County Emergency Operations Center. The scenario involved a tornado striking the park and sending over 15 simulated patients to local hospitals.

The event was strictly a training drill designed to prepare first responders for real-life disaster situations. Agencies from Meigs and Rhea Counties also provided ambulance support alongside Roane County EMS.

Students from Roane State Community College and TCAT (Tennessee College of Applied Technology) participated as mock victims, helping to make the scenario more realistic for first responders. Roane Medical Center was also involved in the exercise.

Roane County Emergency Management Director Tim Suter extended his gratitude to all who participated, including Anderson County EMS and the Oak Ridge Fire Department, for their time and cooperation during the successful drill.
