Tennessee has enacted a new law, signed by Gov. Bill Lee, to combat AI-generated child pornography. Effective July 1, the law criminalizes the possession, distribution, or production of software or technology designed to create AI-generated child sexual abuse material.

Penalties include Class E felony for possession, Class C for distribution, and Class B for production.

The legislation aims to address the misuse of advanced AI tools and protect minors from exploitation, with lawmakers and officials emphasizing its role in equipping law enforcement to tackle this issue.
