ATHENS, TENNESSEE – June 11, 2025 The City of Athens Public Works Department announces the following traffic notice:
The areas affected are MADISON AVENUE AND WASHINGTON AVENUE from Cook Drive to Green Street, and WHITE STREET AND JACKSON STREET from Washington Avenue to Madison Avenue. Construction crews will be paving the asphalt road surface from Wednesday, June 11, 2025 until Friday, June 20, 2025 from 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. each night. Due to the road surface being paved from curb to curb, there will be NO PARKING allowed on Madison Avenue, Washington Avenue, White Street, and Jackson Street during the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Please be aware that vehicles parked in the path of the paving contractor may be towed.
Motorists are advised to use extreme caution and watch for traffic signage, workers, and pedestrians. Motorists should allocate additional time for traffic delays when traveling in this area.
The purpose of this notice is for roadway improvements.
