TRUMP FIRES A THIRD TVA BOARD MEMBER

President Donald Trump has dismissed Beth P. Geer, a Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) board member and chief of staff to former Vice President Al Gore, marking his third board member removal since beginning his second term. According to a June 10 SEC filing, Geer’s appointment, originally set to expire on May 18, 2026, ended on Monday at the President’s direction.
This follows the dismissals of Michelle Moore in March and Joe H. Ritch in April. Geer’s departure leaves the TVA board with only three members—Bill Renick, Bobby Klein, and Wade White—insufficient for a quorum, which requires at least five members.
Per TVA bylaws, the board can continue operations established when a quorum existed but lacks authority to initiate new activities, programs, or change the corporation’s direction.
