Virginia “Ginger” Russell Pickett, 93

Sharp – Virginia “Ginger” Russell Pickett of Oliver Springs departed for her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in this area, she attended Oliver Springs High School and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. After graduating she met the love of her life, Roy W. Pickett Jr. whom she married and raised a family here before traveling all over the world in later years. Most will always remember her from working at Proffitt’s Department store for 35 years where she met and developed lasting relationships with her customers before retiring to take care of her beloved husband Roy. Her beauty was renowned both inside and out by all that had the privilege to know her. She was a true southern Belle and will be missed by all that knew her.
Those who walked before her: Parents: Lawernce and Fannie Butler Russell, Husband: Roy W. Pickett Jr. Daughter: Carolyn Pickett Colvin, Brothers: Jim (Rose) Russell, H.M. (Mutt) (Laura) Russell, LJ Russell. Sisters: Lucille Goodman (Riley), Barbara Taylor (Ken).
Those She left behind: Son David Pickett (Stacy Boggs), Granddaughter: Elizabeth Davidson (Chris Taylor), Grandson: Chaise Davidson, Step Grandchildren: Blake, Blaklee, Braylee, Brentlee Taylor, Devin Boggs (Doris Rodriguez) and Kayla and Luke Emch (Jordan). Sister: Alice Justice (Jimmy) And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Pickett family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice (Terry & Julie) for taking care of Ginger in her final journey to her heavenly home.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday June 20th at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Garvan Walls officiating. Interment will be Saturday June 21st, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the Russell family cemetery where she will be laid to rest on her “Pappy’s” land with all her family that walked before her, but especially her beloved husband and daughter. May she rest in peace.
