CLEVELAND FREDDY’S LOCATION GETS FAILING HEALTH SCORE

On July 7, 2025, the Tennessee Department of Health conducted a routine food service inspection at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, located at 688 Paul Huff Parkway in Cleveland, resulting in a score of 69. For reference, any score below 70 is considered a failing score.
The inspection identified several violations, including a lack of managerial control due to multiple priority violations, prompting discussions on improving oversight. Employees were observed not washing hands or changing gloves after touching their face or glasses during food preparation, and the women’s restroom lacked paper towels, with the person in charge (PIC) noting a delayed delivery but advised to source towels locally.
Food safety issues included dented cans of dessert topping and a molded tomato, both embargoed, and grilled onions and prime rib in a malfunctioning cooler held at 45°F, which the PIC addressed by cooling with ice water and scheduling repairs. Other violations included excessive flies in the kitchen, an improperly stored employee drink on the ice machine, an employee wearing a watch during food prep, a damp wiping cloth not stored in sanitizer, a scoop handle resting in sugar, wet-stacked containers, and a leaking handwashing sink faucet.
The establishment was compliant in areas such as food sourcing, cooking temperatures, and adherence to the TN Non-Smoker Protection Act.
