Funeral Services for Captola Hendrixson, age 98, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Matthew Finchum will officiate with interment to follow in the Whittaker Cemetery. Ms. Hendrixson was born on Friday, June 10, 1927, in Monterey, Tennessee, to the late Lonnie V and Audra May McDonald Norrod. Ms. Hendrixson passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home. Ms. Hendrixson was a training manager and supervisor with Ely & Walker for 33 ½ years, supervisor with Aqua Tech for 2 ½ years, and assistant manager at DeArbo for 2 ½ years. During her earlier years, she spent many happy hours working in the Monterey Flower Shop, Jess Williams’ Dry Cleaners, Ray Norrod’s Bowling Alley, and the office of Goff Funeral Home. As a teenager, she worked at the Cup and Saucer Café. A member of Monterey First Baptist Church since the age of 15, she served as director for approximately 8 years of the XYZ’s (Extra Years of Zest) Women’s Bible class. She was the first president of the Monterey Jaycettes in the 1950’s. She loved sewing of any kind, piecing quilts, and designing clothing for family and friends. She had a love for nature, especially birds. She was known for walks in snow as soon as the first flakes began to fall. Known for her wonderful cooking, she enjoyed sharing meals with friends and family. She loved making new friends and never met a stranger. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Alred of Monterey, TN; granddaughters, Amy Noel Welch, Carrie Audra (James) DeLong, Wendy (James) Mallett; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nephew, Ricky (Marcia) Norrod of Knoxville, TN; and great niece, Wendy Michelle Hedeen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Turner Hendrixson; brother, Thomas Ray Norrod; and 3-year-old sister, Juanita Norrod.
