TRAFFIC STOP IN PUTNAM LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

From the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office:
On July 22, 2025, PCSO Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a Red Chevrolet Pickup truck after observing the vehicle fail to maintain its lane of travel on Hwy 111.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ricky Todd Abbott, age 39, of Cookeville, TN. When Deputies made contact with Abbott, he showed signs of possible impairment. Cookeville Police Department responded on scene with K-9 Sofie, who gave a positive indication on Abbott’s vehicle for the odor of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle resulted in approximately 1.3 ounces of Methamphetamine, along with LSD, Marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia. Ricky Todd Abbott was arrested and charged with Manufacture, Sell, Delivery of Methamphetamine, Manufacture, Sell, Delivery of Schedule I Drugs, Simple Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He has a bond set at $105,000 and a court date of August 25, 2025.
