PUTNAM FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO TWO RESIDENTIAL FIRES

UPDATED WITH A SECOND FIRE TAKING PLACE ON PARKER ROAD:

On Monday, August 5, 2025, at around 10:45 a.m., the Putnam County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 11000 block of Parker Road. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a 40’ x 60’ block garage fully engulfed in flames. Crews battled the blaze for two and a half hours to extinguish it, but the garage and its contents were deemed a total loss. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

In a separate incident on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Putnam County Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire in the 200 block of Ridgewood Road. The occupant reported via 9-1-1 that the back deck was on fire, with flames spreading into the home. Firefighters arrived quickly, containing the fire with minimal spread, resulting in only minor damage to the home. The swift response of the occupant, aided by functioning smoke detectors and the rapid extinguishment by fire crews, limited the damage. Crews remained on scene for just over an hour. The fire’s cause is under investigation, with no suspicion of foul play.
