TEACHERS AND STAFF HONORED AT CONVOCATION

As reported by the Crossville Chronicle, this year’s teacher convocation in Cumberland County, hosted by Director of Schools Rebecca Farley to celebrate the new school year, saw faculty and staff honored for their years of service and outstanding contributions. Teachers were recognized for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 years of service, with Linda Gail Reed uniquely celebrated for 50 years.
Chief Operations Officer Kim Bray announced the Employees of the Year for each school and department, including Lisa Watson, who was named District Employee of the Year.
Teachers of the Year were also recognized, with Ashley Reagan, Kasey Patton, and Tonia Wyatt earning District Teacher of the Year honors. Additionally, Dawn Hall was named Principal of the Year, while Elbert Farley and Justin Whittenbarger were recognized as Classified and Certified Supervisors of the Year, respectively.
All school resource officers were acknowledged for their service across various schools. The event featured a motivational speech by Caleb Campbell titled “The Inner Advantage,” focusing on mindset techniques to manage stress and self-doubt.
Bo Magnusson, Director of Emergency Management and Security, discussed security, threats, and mandatory reporting responsibilities. Cumberland County teacher Aaron Lewis presented on the use of artificial intelligence in education, highlighting the district’s policy and practical classroom applications.
