CPSC ISSUES WARNING ABOUT FAKE ‘LABUBU’ DOLLS AND PRODUCTS

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an urgent warning on August 18, 2025, about counterfeit Labubu plush dolls and keychains, also known as “Lafufu,” which pose serious choking risks to young children. These fake products, often imported from China, are small enough to block a child’s airway if placed in their mouth and can break apart easily, releasing small pieces that present additional choking hazards.

The CPSC has seized thousands of these illegal dolls at U.S. ports for violating federal toy safety regulations. Consumers are urged to avoid purchasing these knockoffs, stop using them immediately, and buy only from reputable sellers. Authentic Pop Mart Labubu dolls are identifiable by a holographic sticker, a scannable QR code, and a UV stamp on newer editions, while fakes may have overly bright colors or incorrect features, such as the wrong number of teeth.

The CPSC emphasizes vigilance, recommending that consumers check for safety labeling and report any incidents to www.SaferProducts.gov.
