WARREN COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY HAS TRIAL DATE SET FOR JANUARY

In Warren County, Tennessee, District Attorney Chris Stanford, who is charged with a Class C felony for reckless endangerment, had a trial date set for January 7-9, 2026, following a court appearance where no plea agreement was reached.

Prosecutors allege that Stanford improperly intervened in a police pursuit of a triple murder suspect, firing several shots, one of which entered a nearby home and narrowly missed a small child, with the incident captured on security video. Although a plea deal remains possible before the trial, Stanford is currently set to face court proceedings.

Despite the felony charge, he continues to serve as District Attorney, prosecuting cases, creating an unusual situation where a DA charged with a felony is handling cases against others facing similar charges.

Stanford is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
