CLINTON WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO VEHICULAR HOMICIDE BY RECKLESSNESS

Clinton, Tennessee – On September 15, 2025, Alexys Barton pled guilty to Vehicular Homicide by Recklessness from a car crash resulting in a man losing his life. In the early morning hours of July 27, 2023, Mr. Christopher Phillips, age 44, was on his way to work when he was suddenly struck by a car crossing the centerline and hitting his motorcycle head on. The Defendant’s reckless operation of an automobile was determined to be the cause of Christopher Phillips’ death.
Mr. Phillips leaves behind a wife, six children and other family members. Assistant District Attorney Brad Prewitt stated, “a single poor decision by one person can have an enormous impact on the lives of others” This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brad Prewitt and DUI Coordinator Kevyn Witzel aided in the prosecution of this case.
General Clark remarked “Impaired driving can have devastating consequences. In this case, one person’s reckless decision ended a life and altered the lives of an entire family forever. We mourn for Christopher Phillips and his family but are honored to pursue justice for him.”
