ANDERSON COUNTY, US 25/ SR 9 between Church Street and Cullom Street: Motorists should be alert for partial road closures with detours in place as utility crews perform work in this area. BLEDSOE COUNTY SR-30 and SR-443, the grading, drainage, stream relocation, widening, and resurfacing on Summer City Road: The contractor will be performing grade work and widening on Summer City Road in Bledsoe County. This work will narrow the lanes at LM 2.0 and LM 4.3 and will leave both lanes open to traffic. Please slow down and use caution when driving through the work zone. BLOUNT COUNTY, SR 162 Pellissippi Parkway between Cusick Road and SR 33: SR 162 is reduced from two lanes to one through this project as construction crews perform bridge work in this area. Motorists should be alert for possible brief rolling roadblocks between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, as needed, for blasting operations. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions, workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

 

BLOUNT COUNTY, SR 336 between US 411 and Reagan Mill Road: Motorists should be alert for possible daily lane closures between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through this resurfacing project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

 

BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/ SR 115 Tail of the Dragon: Due to the one lane condition of Interstate 40 near the Tennessee and North Carolina State Line as repairs continue from Hurricane Helene, this is a reminder for commercial vehicles in Tennessee and North Carolina attempting to use US 129 as an alternate around the I-40 work zone. No trucks with trailers over 30 feet in length, or single units over 30 feet in length are permitted on US 129 “The Dragon” in Tennessee or North Carolina. Thru truck traffic in Tennessee should take I-81 North to Virginia and then take I-77 South into North Carolina. These restrictions of US 129 will be strictly enforced day and night.

 

BRADLEY COUNTY I-75 [15.35-19.309] from MM 31 to MM 35 (McMinn County Line) resurfacing: The contractor will continue paving operations. This work will require temporary lane closures in both directions, which will occur Sunday nights through Friday nights 8 PM to 6 AM. Motorists should exercise caution and pay attention to construction signage. The speed limit will be reduced during paving operations. BRADLEY COUNTY SR-40 [5.1-9.7] from Lyles Rd. to Bradley-Polk County Line resurfacing: During this reporting period, the contractor will continue resurfacing work on SR-40. BRADLEY COUNTY SR-60 [13.1-13.28] at Benton Pike safety improvements: During this reporting period, improvements on the SR60 North exit to Benton Pike will continue. Expect the roadway to be reduced to one lane weekdays between the hours of 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM. The SR-60 North exit ramp to Benton Pike will be closed for the duration of the project. CANNON COUNTY SR-281 [0-4.51] from SR-53 to Todd Rd resurfacing: The contractor will have lane closures during daylight hours from 5 AM to 9 PM for operations involving installing traffic control devices and then milling and paving operations as needed. CLAIBORNE COUNTY, SR 33 between Log Miles 13.1 and 22.7: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. through this resurfacing project. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays, and use extreme caution through this area.

 

COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East between Mile Marker 446 and North Carolina State Line: I-40 East is reduced to 1 lane between Mile Marker 446 in Tennessee and Mile Marker 7 in North Carolina due to damages sustained during Hurricane Helene. Traffic wider than 8 ½ feet is prohibited through this area. Wide Loads should follow I-81 North to I-77 South. This area remains a heavily active construction zone as permanent repairs continue. Motorists should be alert for workers and construction equipment entering and exiting the roadway in this work zone. Motorists should be alert that there are areas with no shoulders and no emergency pull off locations through this work zone. There are no services in this area. COCKE COUNTY, US 25/70 between Tennessee State Line and Hot Springs, North Carolina: Thru truck traffic is prohibited on US 25/70 in North Carolina between the Tennessee State Line and Hot Springs, North Carolina. Truck traffic to North Carolina should follow I-81 North to I-26 East or I-77 South. Traffic wider than 10 feet is prohibited on I-26 between Mile Markers 37 and 40.

COFFEE COUNTY I-24 resurfacing from east of SR-2 (US-41) (LM 8.9) to near SR-55 (LM 14.8), including bridge expansion joint repairs and thin epoxy overlay: Nightly alternating lane closures will continue on I-24 from 7 PM-6 AM for resurfacing operations. COFFEE COUNTY I-24 TDOT Bridge Maintenance eastbound at MM 113.8: TDOT Bridge Repair operations will be performed on 10/08/2025 between 8 PM and 2 AM on 10/09/2025. This work will consist of a lane closure in lane 2 at MM 113.8 on I-24 EB. Traffic control and THP will be in place, and motorists are asked to use caution in this area.

 

COFFEE COUNTY I-24 TDOT Contractor, both directions from MM 110.9 to MM 111.5: From 9 AM-3 PM, on 10/02/25-10/08/25, the surveyor will have a mobile operation on the shoulder of I-24 from MM 110.94-MM 111.54 as they set control points for an upcoming project. There will be a crash truck behind the workers on the shoulder.

 

COFFEE COUNTY SR-53 (WOODBURY HWY.) Utility Work both directions at LM 3.60: Flagger assisted lane closures on SR-53 (Woodbury Hwy) at Maple Spring Dr. Motorists should reduce speed and be prepared to stop. COFFEE COUNTY SR-55 (MCMINNVILLE HWY.) TDOT Contractor both directions from LM 14.1 to LM 14.7: From 9 AM-3 PM, on 10/02/25-10/08/25, the surveyor will have a mobile operation on the shoulder of SR55 from Interstate Drive to Old Bushy Branch Road (LM14.581-LM15.315) as they set control points for an upcoming project. There will be a crash truck behind the workers on the shoulder.

 

COFFEE COUNTY SR-55 construction from First Avenue (LM 2.0) to SR-16 (US-41A, N. Jackson St, LM 2.6) in Tullahoma: Phase 1 of roadway widening and bridge replacement on SR-55 (Wilson Ave.) will continue this week. Contractor may use temporary lane shifts to complete storm structure installations. Phase 1 traffic shift has reduced lanes from 3 to 2 from Cedar Lane to near Grau Lane in order to continue bridge replacement and storm drainage work. There will be a right lane closure on US-41A (N Jackson Street) starting Monday, 10/06 at 8 AM through Monday 10/13 at 6 AM for storm drainage installation. COFFEE COUNTY SR-55 repair of the bridge over the Little Duck River (LM 14.0): Lanes are reduced to one lane in each direction across the SR-55 bridge over the Little Duck River for bridge repair work. CUMBERLAND AND FENTRESS COUNTY SR-28 (US-127) widening from near N. Lowe Rd (LM 29.2) to north of SR-62 (LM 1.9): The contractor has shifted traffic to phase 2 on the newly constructed portions of SR-28 LM 0.90 to 1.98 in Fentress County. Work will proceed on the existing alignment of SR-28. Flaggers are being used intermittently as needed to control traffic through the work zone. CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 [304-306] from Putnam County Line to near parking area resurfacing and bridge repair: The contractor will be performing shoulder work and pavement marking installations nightly on I-40 from MM 304 to MM 307 from 7 PM to 6 AM. During this work, one lane in each direction will be closed. Motorists should use caution as they approach the work zone and should prepare to encounter slow or stopped traffic. CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 [317.86-322.37] from near Obed River to near SR-101 resurfacing: The contractor is performing nighttime resurfacing operations of I-40 from near the Obed River at MM317.8 to near SR-101 at MM322.3. This work will typically take place between Sunday night through Friday morning from 7PM to 6AM each night. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the area. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-1 (US-70 E.) Utility Work eastbound from LM 23.91 to LM 24.02: Flagger assisted lane closures on SR-1 (US 70) between Cox Valley RD and Chestnut Hill Rd. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-1 (US-70) construction of bridge over the Obed River (LM 12.7): Construction activities may take place on SR-1 (US-70) over the Obed River bridge. Construction crews will be working outside of the roadway to complete remaining work activities. Traffic should be cautious of construction equipment near the shoulders. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-28 (US-127) bridge construction and paving from north of I-40 (LM 17.8) to near Potato Farm Road (LM 22.7): The contractor continues grading activities throughout the project limits. Temporary lane closures and/or periodic traffic stoppages will be necessary for construction activities. The contractor has scheduled paving operations beginning on the north end of the project on the proposed alignment. The contractor has closed North Grace Hill Drive at the existing intersection of SR-28 (US-127) for construction activities. Motorists should utilize South Grace Hill Drive as the detour with appropriate signs. Traffic has been moved to temporary alignment on Plateau Road and permanent alignment on Potato Farm Road. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-298 [8.35-9.02] from north of Catoosa Canyon Dr to south of Obed Pines Rd construction of a small drainage structure: The contractor continues construction activities on Genesis Road (SR-298). Both lanes of Genesis Road (SR-298) at LM 8.35 to LM 9.02 have been closed and will be closed for the duration of the project, with a posted detour route along SR-28 (US-127) and SR-62. DEKALB COUNTY SR-26 (US-70) grading, drainage, and construction of retaining walls and paving from near SR-53 (LM 2) to near SR-96 (LM 6.1): The contractor continues grading and construction activities throughout the project. HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2: Nightly Lane closures will occur on this project, 9 PM to 6 AM, on I-75 North and South between Exit 1 (East Ridge) and Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road/ SR-320) and on I-24 East and West from Germantown Road to Spring Creek Road, MM182 to MM185, for various construction activities. These closures may temporarily reduce traffic to a single lane. Uniformed police officers will be present in these work zones to assist with traffic management and to enforce traffic laws. (Note: Nighttime Lane closures (9 PM to 6 AM) of I-24 West and East should be expected between Germantown Road and Spring Creek Road from Sunday (10/5) to Thursday (10/9) for paving as well as painting and texture coating of retaining and noise walls. At times, traffic may be temporarily reduced to a single lane while this work is taking place. The contractor will be closing lanes on I-75 North and South nightly (9 PM to 6 AM) in the East Brainerd Road (Exit 3) area from Sunday, October 5th, through Thursday, October 9th, for installation of additional overhead signs. The contractor is planning to set beams during the day at the railroad bridge near East Brainerd Road from Monday, October 6th through Thursday, October 9th. While no lane closures are anticipated for this work, heavy equipment will be operating close to traffic and large trucks will be entering and exiting the median in this area. Motorists should stay alert to possible changing traffic conditions during this time and follow the speed limit.) It may also be necessary to do short-duration (15 to 30 minutes) rolling roadblocks during the day or night for patching potholes, clearing debris or repairing guardrail, attenuators, etc. Portions of the left lane on North and South Terrace between Germantown Road and Spring Creek Road will remain closed for the installation of drainage structures, sanitary sewers, retaining and noise wall construction. HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at the Hamilton Place Mall interchange: The SR-153 southbound ramp to I-75 northbound has been reduced to one lane. Traffic shifts have been implemented on I-75 northbound, Shallowford Road entrance ramps, Shallowford Road exit ramps, and Hamilton Place Mall exit ramp. Hamilton Loop Road is closed for retaining wall construction and storm drainage installation between the intersections near Markman’s Jewelers and Texas Roadhouse. The contractor has implemented a traffic shift on Hamilton Place Blvd., shifting NB and SB traffic to the east side of the existing roadway from near the I-75 SB on-ramp to near Bams Drive for the installation of storm drainage. The contractor will maintain 1 lane of traffic in each direction throughout this area. The speed limit has been reduced on I-75 throughout the project limits. REGION 2 The on-call concrete pavement repair at various locations on various Interstate and State Routes: The contractor will be repairing concrete pavement on the ramps at I-24 at Martin Springs Rd exit 143. The 2 EB ramps will be worked on as well as the Martin Springs Rd on-ramp to I-14 WB. This work will require the narrowing of each ramp with a minimum open lane width of 10 feet. REGION 2 The on-call guardrail repair and new guardrail installation on various Interstate and State Routes: The contractor will have short-term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly Sunday through Thursday from 7 PM to 6 AM and daily Monday through Friday on state routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the interstate, and flaggers will be present on state routes during any work that is performed. REGION 2 The sweeping on various Interstate and State Routes: Sweeping operations are planned throughout Region 2 this reporting period. Sweeping operations are mobile operations along the inside and outside shoulders with impacts to adjacent traffic lanes. These operations will occur at night between 8 PM and 6 AM for interstates and high traffic state routes, while daytime sweeping can be anticipated between 9 AM to 3 PM for lower traffic state routes. REGION 2 Various Interstate and SRs – Cable Barrier Repair: The contractor will have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform cable barrier rail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly Sunday through Thursday from 7 PM to 6 AM and daily Monday through Friday. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
