OVERTURNED VEHICLE ON I-40 EASTBOUND IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

On the morning of October 7, 2025, a significant traffic disruption unfolded on Interstate 40 Eastbound in Cumberland County when an overturned vehicle was reported at mile marker 313 around 6:52 AM Central Time.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), which was actively on scene managing the incident, the crash involved a dump truck hauling a load of sand that had flipped over, blocking the eastbound right lane out of the two available lanes as well as the adjacent right shoulder.
This partial closure created immediate backups for early-morning commuters and truckers.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution, reduce their speed, and consider alternative routes, such as local roads through Crossville, to avoid the area. Crews are working to upright the vehicle, clear the spilled sand, and restore full flow.
No immediate reports of injuries as of yet.
