Ingrid Albertine Perry, 86

Ingrid Albertine Perry, age 86, of Crossville, TN passed away on October 14, 2025, at Life Care Center of Crossville.

Mrs. Perry was born on June 11, 1939, in Mannheim, Sandhofen, Germany, to her parents, the late Albert Ebert and Georgina Ebert.

She married the love of her life, Leonard Miller Perry, a soldier in the United States Army, stationed in West Germany. Leonard and Ingrid had two wedding ceremonies. One in Mannheim-Sandhofen, Germany on March 26, 1959 to validate their marriage in Germany and then again on March 29, 1959 in the chapel on the army base to validate their marriage in the United States.

Ingrid completed the requirements to become a United States citizen on February 4, 1966 and she was very proud of this accomplishment.

Ingrid worked as a bookkeeper and a tax accountant after completing a business degree while in Germany. She served as a pastor’s wife: working to put Leonard through seminary at Vanderbilt Seminary and followed him, setting up a home in each parsonage of the church Leonard was sent to serve. Ingrid was an amazing mother, homemaker, cook, and host for many church gatherings over the years, even after Leonard and she retired from ministry to the Breckinridge community of Crossville, Tennessee in 1995.

Maya Angelou said: “Family isn’t always blood, it is the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smiling and love you no matter what.” Ingrid/Oma is survived by: Joe and Monica Mowdy (adopted daughter), Dylan Mowdy (adopted grandson) and Beka Smith, Dakota Mowdy (adopted grandson). Other adopted family members include: Micah, Jill, Amelia and Asher Myers, Matthew, Allison, Elowyn and Hayes Woodard. Jeannie Parsons (husband Brad), Christy Mapes and other caregivers who she held dear. She is additionally survived by her biological children: Pat Perry and Ingrid Smart.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ingrid was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard.

A Memorial Service will be held at Homestead Methodist Church on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM presided by: Rev. Monica Mowdy, Rev. Micah Myers and Rev. Tim Lewis.
