MAJOR TOYOTA RECALL AFFECTS OVER 1 MILLION UNITS
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a major recall affecting over 1 million Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system, spanning model years 2022 to 2026. Due to a software error, the rearview camera may freeze or display a blank screen when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, violating federal safety standards and elevating crash risk.
The recall encompasses 1,024,407 vehicles—expected to include all units with the defect—and covers a wide range of models, including Lexus ES, GX, NX, RX, RZ, TX, and LX series; Toyota BZ4X, Camry Hybrid, Crown, Grand Highlander, Prius, RAV4, and others; plus Subaru Solterra. Dealers will provide a free parking assist software update as the remedy. Owners will receive an initial notification letter about the safety risk in December, followed by a second letter once the fix is ready.
