SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH ON I-40 CAUSES TRAFFIC CONGESTION
On November 10, 2025, at approximately 12:18 PM, a two-vehicle collision occurred on westbound Interstate 40 at mile marker 334.4 in Cumberland County, Tennessee.
A preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 2014 International 9900i tractor-trailer (Vehicle 1), driven by 55-year-old Samuel Barbour of Tennessee, struck the rear of a 2017 Ford Fusion (Vehicle 2), operated by 55-year-old Kimberly Waterman, also of Tennessee. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and sustained no injuries.
Waterman’s Fusion was traveling in lane 1 ahead of Barbour’s truck when it began to slow, prompting the rear-end impact.
The Ford came to a controlled stop on the westbound shoulder, while the International veered off, struck the cable barrier, overturned, and came to rest in the median.
No passengers were reported in either vehicle, and no charges have been filed pending further investigation.
