TENN. STATE REP JEFF BURKHART OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY FOUND DEAD
Tennessee State Representative Jeff Burkhart (R-Clarksville), who represented District 75 in Montgomery County, was found dead at his home early Friday morning, November 14, 2025, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, which received the call around 7 a.m.
A former Clarksville firefighter who rose to assistant fire chief, Burkhart entered public service in 2008 as a member of the Clarksville City Council before being elected to the Tennessee House in 2022. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum, with the Tennessee House Republican Caucus praising his dedication, humility, and lifelong commitment to public safety, infrastructure, education, and working families, while House Democrats called him an “exemplary public servant” and a beloved member of the legislative family.
U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn, House Speaker Cameron Sexton, and numerous colleagues expressed grief, describing Burkhart as a high-quality man, good friend, and dedicated leader who will be deeply missed. Born and raised in Montgomery County, Burkhart leaves behind a legacy of service to his community and state.
