TWO CHILDREN KILLED IN LIVINGSTON FOSTER HOME FIRE; FIREFIGHTER INJURED

On November 15, 2025, a devastating house fire broke out shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Railroad Street in Livingston, Overton County, Tennessee, claiming the lives of two children from a local foster family. Firefighters battled the blaze for over two hours after ten people were inside the home at the time it started.
A 2-year-old child and another child between 7 and 9 years old were transported to the hospital but tragically did not survive, while the remaining eight occupants, including one injured adult, were also taken for medical evaluation. One Livingston firefighter sustained burns while attempting to rescue the children and was hospitalized.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Livingston Fire Department in determining the cause and circumstances of the fire. Nearby departments, including Putnam County Fire and Algood Fire & Rescue, expressed heartfelt condolences and highlighted the heroism of the first responders.
The Upper Cumberland Foster Closet is coordinating community support for the affected foster family, accepting donations via Venmo at @ucfostercloset (with warnings to verify the account) to provide essentials such as food, household items, and specialized formula.
No further details about the incident have been released.
