According to preliminary data released by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, at least eight people were killed in traffic crashes across the state during the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday travel period, matching the exact number of roadway fatalities recorded during the same period in 2024.
The fatal collisions occurred in McNairy, Shelby, Franklin, Marion, Washington, Wilson, and Williamson counties. In addition to the fatalities, the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated 243 injury crashes and 566 property-damage-only crashes, while responding to more than 900 motorist-assistance calls.
