ANDERSON DEPUTIES ARREST TWO AFTER INFANT DEATH INVESTIGATION
From the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office:
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of Payton N. Bridges, 28, Dutch Valley Rd. Clinton and James G. Cain, 28, Dutch Valley Rd. Clinton in connection with a July 2024 investigation involving the death of an infant child in the Dutch Valley community.
On Tuesday, December 2nd, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office took Bridges and Cain into custody at their residence.
Both individuals have been charged with:
- Reckless Homicide
- Aggravated Child Abuse (Under 8 Years of Age)
- Aggravated Child Neglect (Under 8 Years of Age)
Bridges and Cain were transported to the Anderson County Jail in Clinton, where they were formally booked at 5:56 p.m. and remain incarcerated.
These arrests stem from an extensive investigation initiated in July 2024 after deputies and detectives responded to the reported death of an infant in the Dutch Valley area. The evidence was presented to a grand jury which returned indictments for the couple.
“Our prayers go out to the extended family of this child,” Sheriff Russell Barker said Wednesday morning. “This case represents an unthinkable tragedy, and our hearts remain with the family. “Our investigators have worked tirelessly since July to uncover the truth and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. We are committed to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our community.
