CUMBERLAND SCHOOLS CELEBRATE OUTSTANDING EDUCATORS WITH CHARITABLE FUND AWARDS

The CSW Charitable Fund (part of the Dr. David Campbell, Mr. Roy Stone, Dr. Robert H. Wood Cumberland County Schools Charitable Foundation) portion of the January 22 Cumberland County School Board meeting was a celebratory highlight, recognizing outstanding teachers, staff, and programs across the district.

Dr. Buck Wood, a founding member, spoke briefly about the fund’s history and impact, noting its origins as an endowment supporting teachers and educational initiatives. He highlighted its growth—providing around $12,000 annually in recent years (with totals exceeding $19,000 in some periods)—and encouraged ongoing contributions from the board, teachers, and community to sustain and expand this teacher-focused giving.

The board then presented awards to a wide array of recipients from every school in the district, as well as district-wide and middle school roles. These honorees were recognized for excellence in classrooms, clubs, athletics, positive behavior supports, ESL, counseling, and more. Many received monetary grants from the fund to support their programs or initiatives.
