KNOX COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR FIRST-DEGREE MURDER
On Wednesday afternoon, KPD Officers, Special Operations Squad personnel and Homicide Unit detectives took 55-year-old James Dotson into custody at his home on Hayworth Drive.
Dotson was wanted for attempted first-degree murder stemming from a shots fired incident that happened on January 29.
On that day at around 6 p.m., a wrecker driver arrived at Dotson’s home on Hayworth Drive to repossess his Toyota truck. As the wrecker driver was attempting to take possession of the truck, Dotson exited his home and fired multiple rounds at the driver, who subsequently fled the scene. The driver was not struck or injured. Dotson had left the scene by the time officers arrived.
After serving the warrant and taking Dotson into custody, officers located multiple guns in his home. In addition to attempted first-degree murder, Dotson, who has a prior felony conviction for reckless endangerment, was also charged with employing a firearm with the intent to go armed and convicted felon in possession of a weapon.
